Ghosts and Ginnels: A poetic treasure hunt around York with Carole Bromley
Join award-winning poet Carole Bromley for a guided walk through the hidden passages, ancient alleyways and atmospheric corners of York that inspired her new book, Ghosts and Ginnels. Carole will share poems, stories, local history and the curious characters of York. The walk ends at The Poetry Pharmacy, where you can have books signed, and browse the shelves.
Ticket price includes the guided walk and a special event discount of £5 off a signed copy of Ghosts and Ginnels purchased on the day.
Suitable for adults and older children with an interest in poetry, stories and York's rich history. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
An Evening with Erica Hesketh and Becca Drake
Join poets Becca Drake and Erica Hesketh for an evening of poems that reflect on the place of humans in the more-than-human world, and that look for new ways to speak about our environment and the climate crisis. Becca and Erica will discuss and read from their recent pamphlets, Unstill Landscapes and To an Unknown Receiver: Sonnets & Cascades, both published by Guillemot Press.
Copies of the pamphlets will be on sale on the night.
Poison: An evening of poetry and performance with Louise Warren
Explore the chemical, the botanical and the medicinal -all deadly- poisons with poet Louise Warren.
From arsenic to venom, fungi to fugu, delight in dark and deathly stories of unfortunate spouses, professional poisoners and how innocent plants can hide deadly secrets!
She will be reading original poems from her new collection Poison published by Tuba Press.
Copies of the book will be on sale on the night. Tickets include a complimentary glass of Devils Botany absinthe!

There is an access call button at the shop entrance. This will alert a member of staff, who will be happy to assist wheelchair users with a ramp and offer support with access or seating.
