A Welcome Above Oxford Street
This week, we’re shining a light on our Poetry Pharmacy on Oxford Street, a little sanctuary perched above the busiest street in London. At Christmas, London feels especially magical, with its lights, bustle, and the joy of finding just the right thing for someone you love. One of the quiet strengths of our space is the people in it: our staff are all poets, kind listeners who know how to guide you toward the right book or poetic prescription when you need it most.
Right in the heart of Oxford Street at its brightest and busiest, the Poetry Pharmacy offers a place to pause. Upstairs at Lush you will find poets ready to listen, a warm cup of coffee or hot chocolate, and a calm space where books and thoughtful gifts are chosen with care.
It is a gentle retreat from the festive rush, a place to catch your breath and enjoy a beautiful view over the Christmas lights. Take a moment for yourself while you browse for the bookish person in your life, who may well be you.
We would love to help you find something meaningful this season. As a small kindness, every purchase over £40 means a free Poetry Pharmacy tote bag if you'd like one.
Come upstairs and let us welcome you in.
London perpetually attracts, stimulates, gives me a play and a story and a poem, without any trouble, save that of moving my legs through the streets... To walk alone through London is the greatest rest. Virginia Woolf |

York Poetry Pharmacy Update
This week, Deb and Maya have begun interviewing for our bookshop manager in York, a key role that will lead a small team of booksellers as we prepare to open our newest Poetry Pharmacy. We have met some wonderful candidates who share our love of poetry, good listening, and thoughtful bookselling.
There has also been much discussion about paint. Working with our brand colours alongside the heritage yellow ochre we have inherited from the listed building is proving quite a puzzle, but the shop will certainly not be easy to miss. The red you may have seen in recent photos is only an undercoat, not the final shade. More updates soon as both the space and the team begin to take shape. |

Between sleep and sky: Making friends with your dreams through poetry
When the Night Speaks with Leah LarwoodMonday 8th December, 6-8pm Online
Every night, dreams visit us—strange, mysterious, sometimes unsettling, always full of meaning. We’re delighted to partner with The Moon Lab to bring you this special workshop, where poetry becomes a bridge between the world of sleep and waking life.
Through creative prompts, simple writing exercises, and gestalt-inspired ‘poetry therapy’ techniques, you’ll discover ways to listen to, honour, and explore your dreams. No experience is needed, just bring your curiosity, a notebook or dream journal, and an open heart ready to meet the magic of your night world.
